Welcome to our little haven Wishing Tree by the Sea in Lauderdale Park, Dunbar. We look forward to meeting you xx

Our Journey

We have holidayed in East Lothian all our lives, in North Berwick and Dunbar building loads of great childhood memories so we wanted to create the same for our girls Mia and Sula. We bought a caravan at Peasebay in 2011 and spent every spare moment down in the Dunbar area. We fell in love with the outdoor lifestyle, the amazing beaches, great high street and the really friendly community and of course Lauderdale park which became a must-visit after every swim at the pool. Our minds were made up. We relocated to Dunbar 3 years ago and we have never looked back.

We heard through the grapevine that the Cafe in our favourite park was on the market and we jumped at the chance to take it on. We picked up the keys in April 2019 and Jonny spent the next couple of months converting the bowling pavilion snack bar into the cafe of our dreams. Finally, we opened the doors just before the summer in June 2019, since then we have never stopped.

We transformed the cafe building and park into a vibrant, fresh, and stylish venue with welcoming and friendly staff at the heart of the Dunbar community.

Two of our great passions are sharing time with great people and eating great tasting food. By combining them at Lauderdale we hope that the café and park will become a multi-use destination where families and friends gather to eat, meet, play, imagine, create and be active.

At Wishing Tree by the Sea we want to provide simple, delicious, great value, bistro style food, fresh ground coffees and yummy home bakes, ice cream, snacks and drinks for all the family.

Local Suppliers

We are delighted to be working with locally sourced food suppliers celebrating all that East Lothian has to offer.

Location

The café is set just 100m from Dunbar high street, in the beautiful surroundings of Lauderdale Park with walled gardens, picnic tables and wonderful safe play park suitable for children of all ages. Our café has seating for 40 indoors, a takeaway hatch for food and drinks to go, and a wonderful outdoor decking with views across the park.

Cycling route 76 and the clifftop trail of the John Muir Way are right on the doorstep of the café making it a great stop-off point for a quick coffee and a bite to eat before setting off on your travels.

There is a large car park with ample on-street parking. The café has accessible toilets with baby change facilities and plenty of highchairs.

We are 'Dog Friendly' and are happy to provide water bowls but we kindly request that dogs are kept on a lead while visiting the park and café.
